Freelance software and web developer with over 15 years experience, including 5 years managing a small team of in-house developers in a commercial setting for a large multi-national plc.

As well as development, my expertise extends to various desktop and server systems for Windows, Unix/Linux and Mac OS X. Products include Microsoft Office, OpenOffice, IIS, SharePoint, Exchange Server, SQL Server, Apache, MySQL, Asterisk PBX, trixbox/FreePBX, Nagios, Joomla! and FreeNAS.

Having worked for companies of all sizes, from one-man-band setups to large Enterprise sized companies with their own in-house data centres and multiple systems with varying integration needs, I've been involved with projects of all shapes and sizes and managed them from initial 'ideas' meetings right through testing, development, company wide deployment and post release support including mitigating issues such as 'change management'.

Over the years, I've been involved with a number of projects that include developing in most of the popular programming languages in use today, specifically VBScript / ASP, JavaScript, C, C++, C#, Objective-C, php and perl.

I've worked on projects to setup, configure, upgrade and support most the major Microsoft technologies, including SharePoint Services, Exchange Server 2003/2007, SQL Server 2000/2005, Configuration Manager 2007, Operations Manager 2007, Data Protection Manager 2007 and Communications Server 2007.

Recently becoming disillusioned with the lack of 'reward' and 'appreciation' for all my hard work and commitment with my employer, I am now working freelance and looking to build long term working relationships with businesses that are Manchester and Salford based in the small to medium size bracket to help them make the most of their I.T. investment.
